With a history of relying on its own strength, China’s rate of self-reliance in energy production has reached around 90%. This development not only guarantees economic and social stability, but also makes significant contributions to global energy security. China’s industrialization and urbanization will surely continue to accelerate, and the demand for energy will go on increasing, presenting tougher challenges in the future. Since the reform and opening-up policy was introduced, China’s energy industry has witnessed rapid growth. A comprehensive energy transportation system consisting of oil and natural gas pipelines has emerged, as well as the linking of electric power grids throughout the country.  China has developed coal, electricity, petroleum, natural gas, and new and renewable energy resources that contribute to the long-term, steady growth of the national economy and the sustained improvement of living standards. Read More
